Sandstone Signs

Stone signs hand carved in Yorkshire

Tom has worked with stone for over 17 years, producing quality hand-carved lettering at his workshop near Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. All of his signs are unique commissions, from house name plaques to large architectural lettering projects. Working the finest quality stone with traditional tools and methods, Tom’s work has an aesthetic quality absent in mass-produced machined products. His signs can be made to any size, large or small, and are delivered nationwide. Tom also offers an installation service and undertakes commissions requiring carving in-situ, working in all types of stone and even carving brickwork. Plaques

Stone plaques make perfect house signs and can be made to any dimensions required. These name and number plaques are in either 38mm or 50mm thick fine grained sandstone. For those who prefer an aged look, your plaque can be made from reclaimed stone. Plaques are supplied with stainless steel hidden fixings and instructions for maintenance free DIY installation.

Blocks

Stone blocks are thicker than plaques and are structural components that can be built into walls or buildings. Carved in fine grained sandstone, they are usually 100mm thick to suit brick or masonry wall construction. For a more rustic look your sign can be carved in reclaimed stone. These pieces can be made to any dimensions required and are dispatched nationwide through the pallet network.

Free-standing Signs

These are the largest signs and are suitable to stand alone, be concreted in the ground or be incorporated in a larger structure. Free-standing signs are carved in both new and old stone. Chose from boulders with clean sawn faces to gnarly reclaimed gritstone slabs. Great for positioning at the end of a long driveway these big house signs also make great waymarkers. As with all Tom’s signs a full installation service is available.

Memorials

Tom works in memorial grade Yorkstone to produce unique headstones that will stand as fitting focal points to the memory of those we have lost. With a compassionate focus on the design process, individual preferences are explored to create work in lettering styles that are both respectful and beautiful.
